With
assistance from the Corporation for National and Community
Service, VSA Arts of Vermont has provided Start With The Arts
to day care and community centers in Franklin, Grand Isle,
Lamoille and Washington Counties during the current programming
year.
START
WITH THE ARTS is an educational program that allows instructors,
parents and childcare providers the opportunity to create
meaningful learning experiences for your children utilizing
all of the arts - visual arts, creative movement, creative
drama and music. The program assists young children of all
abilities in exploring thematic topics commonly taught in
early childhood programs throughout the state. Start With
The Arts has been designed to support the critical goals of
the U.S. Department of Education's GOALS 2000 - including
school readiness and parent involvement.
The curriculum
and accompanying instructional materials were developed by
VSA Arts U.S.A. in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University
and includes 64 separate arts experiences based on five themes.
