VSA Vermont’s Awareness Theater Company was commissioned by the Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services to create a play thay spreads the word about their “New Neighbors Victim Outreach Program”. The play, called “Living the Good Life in Vermont,” is about a family that has to leave their homeland and move to Vermont. They face initial trials and difficulties in adjusting to their new home, but get a solid footing with some hard work and a lot of helpful friends new and old. Just when seems like the family is settled in, the father is robbed while on his way back from work. The resulting fear and confusion make the family uncertain of what to do next. This is when the New Neighbors program is presented. Through this program a trusted member of their community who has been trained about crime victim services points them in the right direction.
