Education Overview
VSA Vermont (VSAVT) offers skill-building classes and workshops in a variety of artistic genres to people of all ages and abilities around the state. Working with program partners such as disability service agencies, schools and community organizations, VSAVT brings skilled artists trained in inclusive teaching methods to sites where people can explore hidden talents and celebrate accomplishments. As one class member said, “I am very impressed with the results of me. It was a good program.”
Weekly classes can be scheduled to fit the needs of the partnering organization. For more information, contact us.
In VSAVT education programs, people find new and powerful expressive abilities. Results of our education classes are shared within communities as part of our Public Awareness and Professional Development programs. Family and friends are invited to performances such as our Can Do Arts performance of “The Myth of Orpheus,” performed at the Elley Long Music Center in Colchester and at our outdoor Can Do Arts fair in Springfield. Artwork can be sold at galleries and conferences. Creating opportunities for acknowledgment by the wider community for the artistic expression of people with disabilities is key to real community inclusion and the reduction of stigma.
