What’s your best expressive and learning style? VSA Arts of Vermont offers artist residencies in every artistic genre so people of all ages in all areas of Vermont can discover new strengths and describe their interesting lives.
VSA Arts of Vermont contracts with schools, parent groups, service provider organizations and other community organizations to create programs particular to the needs of their constituents. If you would like to help create a VSAVT program in your area, please contact us for more information.
VSAVT Educational Programs
- Start With The Arts preschool arts and literacy program
- Home In The Arts family arts presented at homeless shelters and after school programs
- Can Do Arts classes for adults inclusive of adults with developmental disabilities
- High School Self-Advocacy Theater for students preparing to make the transition from special education to independent adult living
- Adult Self-Advocacy Theater for adults seeking self-advocacy skills
VSAVT Professional Development Programs
- a training component of Start With The Arts for child care providers
- art exhibitions for people participating in our educational programs
- The Awareness Theater Company, our professional company made up of adults with developmental disabilities
- training opportunities, contests and other venue development for artists and teachers
VSAVT Cultural Access Programs
- distribution of reduced tickets to accessible performances
- technical assistance on accessibility to cultural institutions
- assistance with ASL and audio description services
VSAVT Public Awareness and Outreach Programs
- workshops at festivals throughout Vermont
- performances of original theater by Awareness Theater Company, about the lives of its members and also about community issues, such as Bill’s Bill: Our History of Special Education in the Great State of Vermont, or And Justice For All, a collaboration with SafeArt and the Vermont Center for Crime Victim’s Services, focusing on hope and help for teens, seniors and people with disabilities who have been victims of crime
